8.30.06: Wayne Due Closing Shop
It's a sad day for Pro-touring enthusiasts as the great Wayne Due has announced the closing of his chassis shop. Wayne learned the art of custom suspension building under the late pioneer Art Rasmussen. After Art's passing Wayne continued manufacturing custom front clips for classic muscle cars (primarily Camaros) using modern suspension technology.
Before closing shop, Wayne was offering front clips using components from the C5 Corvette suspension as well as Art Morrison parts. He had even developed a kit to mount a Corvette IRS in a 1st gen Camaro! Wayne earned the repect of the Pro-Touring community by manufacturing quality products used in some of the most popular builds.
On a personal note, Wane's front clip setup was one of a couple that I was hoping to use on my own project one day. I'm sorry to see him close shop, but I wish him the best for the future.

8.21.06: Detroit Speed & Engineering Announce New Camaro Subframe
Detroit Speed and Engineering, a first-rate company out of Mooresville, NC, recently announced an exciting new product for owners of First Generation Camaros! The subframes are the first in the industry to utilize a hydro-forming process, which preserves the strength of the frame rails by allowing the steel to be formed at lower temperatures. Goodguys Rod and Custom Association was so impressed with the new assembly that it was awarded their "Best New Product" award in two categories!
The subframe will be available as a complete assembly, providing a bolt-in replacement for the Camaro's legendary sub-par front suspension. No word yet on pricing (edit 9.15.06: It's not cheap. Pricing now listed at $6,700 on DSE's website), as the product looks to ship late this summer or early fall. Visit DSE's website for complete details.
